Mercedes Service for Owners New to Miami
MIAMI ASKS DIFFERENT THINGS OF YOUR MERCEDES
Your car has lived somewhere else, maybe New York, Chicago or Dallas, and its service history was built around that climate. Miami runs it hotter, wetter and saltier, with the AC on almost every day and plenty of slow traffic. Miami Benz is an ISP-licensed independent Mercedes-Benz specialist in South Miami, and we have been working on Mercedes for 20 years, since 2006. Call or text (305) 740-3440.
WHAT CHANGES WHEN YOUR MERCEDES MOVES SOUTH
Up north the AC rests half the year and cold is the battery’s enemy. Here the AC works almost daily, heat wears the battery and cooling system all year, and rain and salt air keep working on the underside. Your service schedule carries on as before. A few things just need checking sooner.

WHAT MIAMI DOES TO A MERCEDES
AC that never gets a break
Up north the compressor sits idle for months. Here the compressor, condenser and cabin filter work almost every day, and humid air leaves moisture behind that turns into a musty smell. See our air conditioning service.
Heat on the battery and cooling system
Months of high temperatures wear a battery from the inside, often with little warning before it fails. Coolant, hoses and rubber seals age faster too. We test the battery and charging system with Mercedes diagnostic equipment. See battery and electrical repair.
Stop-start traffic
Crawling through Miami traffic heats the brakes, transmission fluid and cooling system more than a long highway run, with less air moving through the radiator. We check pads, rotors and fluid condition at every visit. See suspension and brakes.
Salt underneath, and salt in the air
Cars from states that salt their roads can arrive with corrosion on brake lines, subframes and the exhaust. A look underneath on the lift when you arrive shows where things stand. Texas cars mostly miss the road salt, but coastal salt air works on every car here.
Humidity and tropical rain
Downpours test wipers and tire tread, and blocked sunroof and body drains can let water reach the cabin electrics. Brake fluid also draws in moisture faster in humid air. Read why Mercedes sunroofs leak in Miami and see tires and alignment.
KEEP YOUR SERVICE A AND B SCHEDULE
Nothing restarts. Your car’s service system tracks time and miles, and we pick up from the last service in your records. Service A comes first at about 10,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first, then Service B at about 20,000 miles or two years, and they alternate from there. Service B replaces the cabin filter and the brake fluid, two items that matter more in Miami. For oil, read how often to change your Mercedes oil in Miami. At every visit we also check the battery, AC, tires, brakes and fluids rather than waiting for the dashboard to ask. Lester Ruiz on our team is an ASE Certified Master Automobile Technician, and we fit OEM parts.
BRING YOUR RECORDS WITH YOU
Bring the invoices or service printouts from your old dealer or mechanic. As an ISP-licensed independent with Mercedes diagnostic equipment, we can carry your car’s history on without a gap. We’ll give you a written quote before any work starts.
QUESTIONS FROM OWNERS NEW TO MIAMI
My car just arrived from up north. What should be checked first?
A look underneath on the lift for road salt corrosion, then the battery, AC and tires.
I moved from Texas. Does any of this apply to me?
Your car already knows heat. The changes for you are humidity, tropical rain and salt air, plus moving your records to a new specialist.
I’m only here for the winter. What does my car need?
A car left for months loses battery charge and its tires can flat-spot. Have it checked when you arrive in the fall and again before you store it for the summer.
Do I have to start my service schedule over?
No. Bring your records and we’ll carry on with Service A and B from where they left off.
Where are you?
5844 Commerce Ln, South Miami. Owners come to us from Brickell, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne, Pinecrest, Miami Beach and Kendall.
